Brownies

  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • ⅔ cup unsifted flour
  • ½ unsweetened cocoa
  • ½ tsp. baking powder
  • ¼ tsp. salt

In a mixer, cream softened butter with sugar, eggs and vanilla. Sift flour with cocoa, baking powder and salt, blend into creamed mixture. Spread into buttered 8" square pan and bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Cool then frost.

Quick Fudgy Frosting

  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tbsp. milk
  • ½ tsp. vanilla

Melt butter, remove from heat and add cocoa, stirring until smooth. Mix in sugar, 2 tbsp. milk and vanilla. Beat until thick, add remaining milk, a little at a time, as needed. Beat until thick enough to spread. Frost brownies.
